Eco Friendly Vehicles
With an average of nearly 800,000 miles a year Allied is very aware of the need to cut corporate carbon emissions which is why in February 2008 Allied decided to trial a vehicle which runs on LPG.
What is LPG?
Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) is a term used for hydrocarbon gases. It is produced either as a by-product when refining crude oil or direct from the North Seas oil or gas wells.
The two most common LPG gases are known as Commercial Propane and Commercial Butane as defined in BS 4250.
Why is LPG better for the environment?
LPG is better for the environment compared to unleaded petrol & diesel because it creates about:
- 15-20% less greenhouse gases.
- 30-40% less volatile organic compounds and oxides of nitrogen.
- 50-60% less carbon monoxide.
- 80% less toxic air pollutants such as benzene and sulphur oxides.
Allied chose local company Arun Auto Gas for the installation of the LPG conversion kit. http://www.arunautogas.co.uk/
